George Stover was born March 1, 1896 in Sheffield, Franklin County, Iowa the son of Fred and Anna C. Stover. He married Hannah M. Gerdes July 6, 1918 in Sheffield, Iowa and they had two sons, Delbert and Milo.

He first worked as a farm laborer in Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He came to Naperville about 1925 with his family and went to work for the Kroehler Furniture Manufacturing Company as a laborer. He retired from Kroehlers as an inspector.

He was raised a Master Mason August 1, 1950 in Euclid Lodge and served as Master of the Lodge in 1959. He was also a member of Euclid Chapter No. 13, Royal Arch Masons and served as High Priest in 1954 and 1955. He was also a member of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Chicago; Aurora Commandery No. 22, Knights Templar, Aurora; Order of The Eastern Star of Illinois; Medinah Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S. of Chicago; Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem; Aurora Council 45, R&SM; International Supreme Council Order of DeMolay; Knights Templar Eye Foundation Inc.; Knights of the York Cross of Honour and Decatur Council 16, R&SM.

He died October 10, 1973 in Aurora, Kane County, Illinois and was buried in the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, Aurora, Illinois.
