Floyd Amos Squires Sr. was born February 9, 1882 in Baraboo, Sauk County, Wisconsin the son of Amos Wilson Squires and Mary Ida Lucy Kenyon. He married Isabelle Annis Kingsley November 4, 1905 in Naperville and they had five children, Clark Kingsley, Mackey A., Dorothy Jane, Floyd Amos Jr. and Isabelle Mary. Isabelle died March 28, 1914 while giving birth to Isabelle Mary and he married Martha Helen Smith July 10, 1915. He worked for several years for the railroad in Baraboo, Wisconsin and then came to Naperville about 1905 and went to work for Kroehlers. He was employed by the Kroehler Furniture Manufacturing Company for 49 years. He started in the truck loading department, eventually becoming the superintendent. He was then made the Assistant Traffic Manager in 1944 and later worked as the receptionist in the main office prior to his retirement. He was raised a Master Mason October 3, 1939 in Euclid Lodge and served as Master of the Lodge in 1951. He was also a member of Euclid Chapter No. 13, Royal Arch Masons. He died December 19, 1964 in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County Florida and was buried in the Naperville Cemetery. |
