Othal M. Kniesly was born May 9, 1906 in Bradford, Darke County, Ohio the son of Daniel and Cora Kniesly. He married Mary Katherine Schwartz and they had two children, Robert and Karen.

He was an Optometrist in Naperville for 20 years and then moved his practice to Aurora.

He affiliated with Euclid Lodge July 20, 1952 from Riverside Lodge No. 862, Riverside, Illinois. He served as Master of Euclid Lodge in 1963 and 1964. He was also a member of Euclid Chapter No. 13, Royal Arch Masons.

He died April 12, 1987 in Mountain Home, Baxter County, Arkansas and was buried in the Baxter Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
