Keith Irwin Hartzell was born March 17, 1919 in Naperville, DuPage County, Illinois the son of Almond Leroy Hartzell and Grace A. Enck. He married Helen Emily Berg about 1946 and they had two children, Roberta and Richard.

He was employed by the Kroehler Furniture Manufacturing Company as a Draftsman and Design Engineer for 44 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was also an avid golfer.

He was raised a Master Mason March 31, 1945 in Euclid Lodge and served as Master of the Lodge in 1950. He was also a member of Euclid Chapter No. 13, Royal Arch Masons.

He died June 17, 2000 in Senatobia, Tate County, Mississippi and was buried in the Naperville Cemetery.
