Alvin (Bay) Scott Jr. was born January 20, 1864 in Naperville, DuPage County, Illinois the son of Alvin Scott Sr. and Marietta Emeline Gould. He attended the Naperville Schools and North Western College (North Central). He married Elizabeth Shaw Wilson January 17, 1888 and they had one son, Robert Willard. He worked as a bank cashier for Willard Scott and then in his own Real Estate and Insurance business. He served Naperville as Postmaster, 1893 to 1897, and as Mayor, 1903 to 1907. During his term as mayor, waterworks were installed which led to a sewerage system, and then the streets were paved. He also served as Supervisor of Lisle Township. He was raised a Master Mason July 30, 1889 in Euclid Lodge and served as Master of the Lodge in 1892, 1893, 1899, 1903, 1904 and 1911. He was also a member of Euclid Chapter No. 13, Royal Arch Mason and served as High Priest in 1898. He died March 12, 1926 in Naperville, DuPage County, Illinois and was buried in the Naperville Cemetery, the Masonic Fraternity performing the Masonic Funeral rites. |
