Dr. John A. Bell was born March 19, 1838 in McConnelsville, Morgan County, Ohio. He married Elizabeth Eagle August 16, 1861 in Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois and they had two daughters, Allie May and Nettie. He served in the 10th Illinois Infantry as Assistant Surgeon during the Civil War. He attended Hedding Seminary, Abington, Knox County, Illinois, was an MD at Hahnemann Homeopathic Medical College of Chicago and was a member of the Illinois Institute of Homeopathy. He was a partner in medical practice with Dr. Charles Naumann (Past Master of Euclid Lodge 1881).He served the Village of Naperville as a Trustee in 1884 and as 2nd Ward Alderman in 1890. He served on the Nichols Library Board as President in 1897. In 1917 he was the Surgeon of Walter Blanchard GAR Post in Naperville. He was raised a Master Mason July 12, 1870 in Euclid Lodge and served as Master of the Lodge in 1875 and 1876. He died September 22, 1928 in Naperville, DuPage County, Illinois and was buried in the Naperville Cemetery. |
