THOMPSON, Herbert Percy was born June 28, 1889 in Wheatland Township, Will County, Illinois the son of Jesse Eno Thompson and Deborah Petters. He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1908 and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1913 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the Illinois Regiment of the Air Service in France in 1918 and 1919. He worked for a short time as an auto mechanic and then opened his own car dealership, The Naperville Garage, selling Overland, Willys-Knight and Whippet automobiles. He was also employed for a time as a banker in Harvey, Illinois. He served as Mayor of Naperville from 1927 to 1931. He was married to Sophye Beatrice Jackson in 1942. He moved to Seattle, Washington in 1944 and remained there until his death. He was raised a Master Mason November 17, 1916. He was also a member of Euclid Chapter No. 13, Royal Arch Masons and served as High Priest in 1943. He died December 14, 1981 in Seattle, King County, Washington and was buried in Seattle.
