Alfred Willey Strong was born October 26, 1832 in Lisle Township, Cook County, Illinois the son of Robert Strong and Caroline Willey. He married Orilla J. Crawford October 4, 1859 and they had four children, Caroline Elmira, Charles Crawford, Malcolm Emmet, and Mabel Emma. Orilla died January 22, 1865. He married Louisa George Dalrymple May 5, 1867 and they had two sons, Arthur and Edward. He was a farmer. He was raised a Master Mason April 25, 1865 in Euclid Lodge and was also a member of Euclid Chapter No. 13, Royal Arch Masons of which he served as High Priest in 1878 and 1880. He was attending a Knights Templar Conclave in St. Louis, Missouri and was struck and killed by a train. He died September 25, 1886 in Cheltenham, Missouri and was buried in the Naperville Cemetery.
