Jonathan Franklin Royce VI was born October 19, 1860 in DuPage Township, Will County, Illinois the son of Jonathan Franklin Royce V and Sarah Abigail Mather. He married Mary Jane Stafford November 1, 1882 and from this union they had seven children, Maria, Mary Jane, Abigail, Emma M., Elsie Hannah, Lillian, and Jonathan Franklin VII.

He was employed by the Willard Scott Bank and also farmed, breeding Morgan horses and Aberdeen-Angus cattle.

He was raised a Master Mason October 15, 1889 in Euclid Lodge and served as Master of the Lodge in 1894. He was also a member of Euclid Chapter No. 13, Royal Arch Masons and served as High Priest, 1899 to 1906.

He died May 30, 1923 in DuPage Township, Will County, Illinois and was buried in the Naperville Cemetery, the funeral services being performed by members of Euclid Lodge and Aurora Commandery No. 22.
