Dr. Edwin S. Fry was born July 20, 1851 in Reamstown, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania the son of George Fry and Catherine Snyder. He attended high school at Millersville, Pennsylvania and then taught school there for several years. He married Mary N. Carpenter June 6, 1871 and from this union they had two daughters, Cora and Hattie, and a son George C.

In 1873 he and his wife moved to Naperville and he clerked for Martin Brown and then for a store in Aurora for three years. He then farmed on three different farms in the Naperville and Plainfield area for the next eighteen years. While farming he studied and prepared himself to be a veterinary surgeon. He practiced for fifteen years before retiring in 1909.

He was raised a Master Mason November 5, 1895 in Euclid Lodge. He served as Master of the Lodge in 1900. He was also a member of Euclid Chapter No. 13, Royal Arch Masons.

He died November 16, 1927 in Naperville, DuPage County, Illinois and was buried in the Naperville Cemetery.
