Claude Vinton Leffler was born May 24, 1878 in Naperville, DuPage County, Illinois, the third son of Jeremiah Leffler and Loanna Hoy. He never married. In his early life he attended the old Ellsworth school, receiving and enjoying the privileges and benefits afforded by the earlier fine public institutions of Naperville.

He worked first for his father in the carpenter trade, then in sales and clerical work at several businesses in Naperville. He then went to work as a clerk for the Chicago , Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad. These connections provided him with a wide acquaintance with many of the people in the community. The last twelve years of his life was spent working as a clerk on the Board of Review of DuPage County.

He was raised a Master Mason September 1, 1908 in Euclid Lodge and served as Master of the Lodge in 1914. He also served Euclid Lodge as Senior Warden in 1913, Junior Warden in 1912 and 1913, Senior Deacon in 1910, and Junior Steward in 1909. He also served Euclid Chapter No. 13, R.A.M. as High Priest in 1923.

He died April 16, 1932 in Aurora, Kane County, Illinois and was buried in the Naperville Cemetery. Euclid Lodge had charge of the funeral arrangements, conducting a service at the chapel and committing the body to the grave.
