William Victor Lambe was born October 14, 1859 in Naperville, DuPage County, Illinois the son of Edward J. Lambe and Sophie Cardine Fredenhagen. . His boyhood was spent in Warrenville, where his father operated the historic Warrenville mill on the DuPage River, the site of the present Forest Preserve. On January 31,1878 he was united in marriage with Sarah Jane Wallace and to this union were born six children, Pauline May, Edward John, William, Carrie Bell, Alice Josephine and Bessie Marie.

In later years, Mr. Lambe took over the mill from his father and operated it himself for several years until it was destroyed by fire in 1897. He operated a grocery and hardware store on Front Street in Wheaton after the fire destroyed the mill. He served as the Wheaton Postmaster from 1912 to 1920.

He was raised a Master Mason April 15, 1884 in Euclid Lodge. He served as Master of Euclid Lodge from 1888 to 1891. He was also  a member of Euclid Chapter No. 13, Royal Arch Masons and served the Chapter as High Priest in 1893 and 1894. He dimitted to Wheaton Lodge No. 269 in 1901 and served as the Master there in 1902 and 1903. He was also a Grand Lodge Lecturer.

He died February 12, 1940 in Aurora, Kane County, Illinois and was buried in the Warrenville Cemetery.
